Information for learners and their parents
About the Personal Learning Record (PLR)
The Personal Learning Record (PLR) offers access to a learner's official online record. It is a compilation of learning and achievement records such as awards, certificates and qualifications that have already been collected by UK education bodies. The verified learning and qualifications undertaken can be from school, college or work.
If you are aged 14+, involved in any kind of education or training, you should not need to provide copies of different certificates each time you apply for a course, seek careers guidance or take examinations. Instead, you can offer a PLR report, which will list verified qualifications.
If you are aged 16+, you can view your PLR online and you can choose to allow access to others and share your information if you wish to.
The PLR can help you make more informed career choices and make applying to university easier with your qualifications already being verified.
Opting-out of sharing PLR data
However, if you do not wish to share your participation and achievement data, you can opt-out of by contacting the LRS Customer Helpdesk on 0845 602 2589. You will be required to provide some personal details to confirm your identify, which may include your Unique Learner Number (ULN), if known.
About the Unique Learner Number (ULN)
Since 2007/08, you should have been allocated a Unique Learner Number (ULN) if you are aged 14+. The ULN is used by the education sector to share personal learning records and ensure that the correct information is recorded in the correct learning record. You will need to have a ULN to view your PLR.
How do I find my PLR and ULN?
For access to your PLR, contact your current or most recent learning provider, who will be able to verify your identity and provide access.
If you have been in education in England since 2007/2008, you should already have a ULN. You can check certificates or results slips for a 10-digit code. Otherwise, contact your current or most recent learning provider to collect your ULN for you, or request a ULN if you do not have one.
