Data Analysis Capability Update
At the end of October 2011, the Learning Records Service (LRS) Data Management team took delivery of the new data analysis capability. This is allowing the team to undertake new work on improving our services to users and our own data handling efficiency.
The team has drawn up a data quality plan, identifying and prioritising the data quality items to be addressed.
Top priority items the Data Management team are now progressing include:
- Improvements to the matching algorithm used by the LRS, to narrow down the number of possible matches returned to learning providers searching for Unique Learner Numbers (ULNs).
- Implementation of a more comprehensive synonym file, to identify potential matches more accurately when searching for ULNs
- Assessing the potential to confirm a probable match when a single possible ULN match is returned to the learning provider.
It is currently planned to implement these three items in June/July, as part of Release 8.
